Elysian Foods were established in 2000 by Basil and Martha Yiannoutsous. In 2017, Toby Green, a big fan of their Taramasalata, convinced his partner Sarah and their four teenage kids that it was entirely sensible for him to give up corporate life and purchase a small food manufacturing business instead. Given that Elysian Foods is the only company in NZ that makes Taramasalata, it was quite a responsibility to take on. Five years later, the company continues to grow and expand its range of delicious Mediterranean inspired products, while all the time trying to limit the impact it has on the environment (with mixed success – listen to the podcast that Toby made with Consumer NZ in 2022 https://tinyurl.com/3wxf4uyk)
